Puglia and its coastline:
Puglia has a developed coastline equivalent to 784 km, to which about 50km of the Tremiti islands must be added, making a total coastline of 834 km, so it is therefore the third Italian region in coastal development after Sicily and Sardinia. The Gargano coast is in general rocky, but there are numerous inlets with sandy beaches.

To the south of Manfredonia the coast is low and sandy until Barletta, while in the lands of Bari, sand and low cliffs alternate, with the exception of Polignano a Mare, situated on an overhanging buttress.

To the south of Monopoli to Otranto the coast is prevalently sandy, while along the Adriatic coast from lower Salento the rocky stretches are common.

The entire Ionian coast from southern Salento to the confines with Basilicata is characterized by white sandy beaches, which, in the northern part of the Gulf of Taranto, are surrounded by pine forests.
